“Christ Enthroned in Glory”

“Christ Enthroned in Glory,” is an image of the risen and glorified Lord. It portrays Christ after the Second Coming, after the Last Judgement. He has gathered all the nations into eternity, where there is no beginning and no end.

The Son of God had no beginning. As John writes, “In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

Christ’s presence in the world makes our future condition, life in eternity, real here and now. Becoming one with God means stepping out of time into eternity. It is a constant condition, an out-of-time experience for all who, as Mary did, said "yes" to God’s call.

Normally, that which has a beginning has an end. But we in contemplation experience beyond “end.” Before creation, there was no beginning or end. In Christ, we participate in “no beginning or end.”

In this image, Jesus calls us into eternity, here and now. He shares with us the future as he did with Peter, James, and John when he was transfigured before them.

Come, Lord Jesus!
