St. Michael, Archangel

Sacred Scripture refers to St. Michael, the Archangel, several times. We find these in the Book of Daniel, The Letter of Jude, and in the Book of Revelation. Michael is described as a Defender, Protector against evil. He is sent by God to destroy evil.
The scene in this icon is taken from the Book of Revelation, Ch. 12. Michael is in battle with a dragon which symbolizes all evil.
We believe that each one of us has a personal Guardian Angel appointed by God to protect us. Most of us learned as children – Angel of God, my guardian dear……
We give thanks to God and our guardian angel for the moments, known and unknown when we were protected. Sometimes danger comes from within, sometimes from outside ourselves. Our guardian angel even protects us from harming others.
Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom His love commits me here, to light and guard, protect and guide.
