“Mary, Mother of all Nations”
Mary, Mother of God, is certainly the most loved woman who has ever lived. Her titles are as innumerable as the miracles attributed to her. Yet her greatest love continues to be toward her son and through him for all creation.
Mary, Mother of all Nations, symbolically holds the world in one hand and is protecting it with the other hand partially covering it with her veil. She often held the God-baby lovingly in her hands. With the same love, she actively cares for and protects our world.
There are 12 flames surrounding the earth. They may symbolize the 12 first nations, the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 apostles. Mary’s love goes out to all peoples as well as each individual.
She is standing on a kind of reddish surface representing the universe in its beginnings. Mary is not just Mother of all nations but of the entire universe.
Adam and Eve received the responsibility of naming the animals and caring for them. That responsibility extends to all of creation, to all the planets and universes, those known and those yet to be discovered. Today we are called, as a people, and as individuals to cherish and pass on a love for all peoples and all of creation.
Mary, Mother of all Nations, thank you for being also our mother. Instill in us a love for all peoples and all of God’s creation.
