“THIS IS MY BELOVED SON”
“After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, ‘This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.’” (Matt. 3:16-17)
Although Jesus did not need to repent, he chose to be baptized by his cousin John. The Holy Spirit which had descended upon him immediately led him into the desert where he was tempted.
At the moment of our conception, God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit made their home in us. Since that moment we too have been led through our daily tasks by this same Spirit. The journey for Jesus was not an easy one. Oh, there were moments of joy at seeing what the Father was doing through him. But there were also those incidents that caused him great suffering. Our journey is the same. We are today the crucified body of Christ, the visible body of Christ.
We are the Father’s beloved Daughters and Sons, with whom He is well pleased.
