"The Transfiguration

St. Catherine's Monastery, Mt. Sinai"

St. Catherine's Monastery is said to have one of the world's largest collections of icons. It was established in 565 AD.

When Jesus led Peter, James, and John up the mountain to pray he knew, it was a preparation for what was to come. His Father was with him as well as Moses and Elijah.

??One of the moments this was to strengthen him for was the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane. There, instead of radiating light, he would be sweating blood. His disciples would be sleeping.

At first, Peter, James, and John were at afraid on the mountain. Then they were delighted and wanted to stay. In Gethsemane, they slept, but then sensing danger, they were quickly filled with fear.

Lord, Jesus, we have also followed you and you say your yoke is light. Forgive us for the times we were overcome with fear.
